Currently, the single season rushing record is held by Eric Dickerson with 2,105 yards from scrimmage in a single season. He set this record in 1984 while playing for the Rams, and while this record has stood for forty years strong, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles is well on his way to beating that record. After an Eagles’ record setting game of 255 yards last week and 107 yards this week, Barkley is on pace to hit 2,151 rushing yards on the season, which would eclipse Dickerson’s record by 46 yards. He has dealt with injury issues in the past but, if Barkley can stay healthy, we may be looking at a new running back taking Dickerson’s long held mantle.
